Who I am
Midwife on the Mat is the independent yoga teaching and wellbeing practice of Vanessa Bonacina. I am the data controller for personal information used by this practice. My yoga work is separate from my NHS employment.
Information I may receive
- Your name and contact details.
- The content of your enquiry and your class or event preferences.
- Practical accessibility needs you choose to share.
- Booking and payment details if we agree a booking.
- Relevant health information only when it is genuinely needed for safe participation and you choose to provide it.
Please do not include unnecessary medical information in an initial message.
How and why I use it
I use personal information only to:
- reply to enquiries and discuss availability;
- plan and administer classes, collaborations and confirmed bookings;
- support safe and accessible participation; and
- meet relevant legal, tax, insurance or safeguarding requirements.
The lawful bases I rely on are taking steps at your request before a contract, performing a contract, my legitimate interests in running this small practice, and legal obligations where applicable. If genuinely necessary health information is requested, I will explain why and seek your explicit consent unless another lawful condition applies.
I do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who may process it
Depending on how you contact me, information may be processed by WhatsApp or Instagram (Meta), Gmail (Google), and the providers that host and secure this website. These services operate under their own privacy terms and may process information outside the UK using appropriate safeguards. I do not sell or rent personal information.
This website contains links to those services, but it does not collect enquiry details directly through an online form.
How long I keep it
Routine enquiries are deleted within 60 days of our final contact. If an enquiry becomes a confirmed booking, I may need to keep limited booking, payment, safety or incident records for longer where required for tax, insurance, safeguarding or legal purposes. I keep only what is necessary.
Your data rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to its use. You can withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis used. These rights are not absolute, but I will explain any lawful reason if I cannot fulfil a request.
Contact me using the details below. If you are unhappy with how I have used your information, email me with Data protection complaintin the subject line. I will acknowledge the complaint within 30 days, investigate it appropriately and explain the outcome. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office through its data-protection complaints service.
Security, cookies and links
I take reasonable steps to limit access and protect the information I hold. This website does not intentionally use advertising, analytics or marketing cookies, so there is no non-essential cookie banner. Essential hosting and security technologies may operate. Links to WhatsApp and Instagram take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Contact and response times
I usually respond within 48 hours because I work full-time as an NHS midwife. Please allow more notice for event requests. WhatsApp is the quickest option for time-sensitive yoga enquiries.
These contacts are not monitored for medical emergencies, NHS advice or urgent maternity concerns.
Changes to this notice
I will review this notice when my services or the way I use information changes, and update the date above.
